Since 1948, Clarity, the Speech, Hearing, and Learning Center, a non-profit, free standing, community based clinic, has been entrusted by the people of Upstate South Carolina to help them overcome their hearing, speech and learning disorders.
Our clients, ranging from infancy to 100+ years old, rely on us to deliver the most comprehensive and effective treatment possible. We are not affiliated with any government agency. Our financial support comes from service fees paid by individuals, insurance providers, Medicaid and other third party providers. Additionally, we receive substantial support from the United Way of Greenville County, private individuals, and corporate donors to make sure services remain accessible to people who live or work in Greenville County and who cannot afford to pay full fees.
Services are available to residents of the Upstate by self-referral or referral from physicians, agencies and organizations, or other professionals. Evaluations are available by appointment and therapy is available as determined by staff professionals. Fees are charged for evaluation and therapy. Our support staff works with our clients and insurance companies to facilitate payment, as appropriate.
Our devoted, highly trained and licensed professional staff, together with caring, courteous support staff provides a full spectrum of services, meeting the needs of our community.

History of Clarity
Clarity is a longstanding independent non-profit agency existing in our community for over 65 years. Clarity began as the Greenville Hearing Society in 1948, and the name changed to Greenville Hearing and Speech Center in 1954. Learning services were added in 1975, and the name was changed to The Speech, Hearing & Learning Center. To better serve the diverse needs of our patients, the organization moved into the Center for Developmental Services in 2000. The name changed to Clarity in 2009 to reflect the hope for results for those receiving services.
