Bridging the Gap Between Emotion and Engagement

Join us on Friday, February 10, 2023 where Amy Hibbs (Occupational Therapist OTR/L) and Allison Huffstutler (B.A. Math Education and M.S. Counseling), both parents of children with disabilities, will discuss the work of BridgED and how to be an empowered parent.

During this informative talk, Amy and Allison will share four steps to becoming an empowered parent who is able to balance emotions and engagement. Parents will walk away with simple tools to advocate with and for their child while also taking care of themselves throughout the journey.

Fr-Amily Night is a great opportunity for families of children with mental, health and developmental challenges to connect with other families affected by similar situations. Parents will enjoy the discussion and participate in a Parent Chat while children can delight in structured play at the Children’s Museum of the Upstate with special needs trained volunteers.

For this special Fr-amily FUN Night, caregivers and their children are invited to enjoy three floors of hands-on play at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate (300 College Street, Greenville, SC 29601) after-hours from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Check in between 5:45pm – 6:00pm.

This is a FREE event sponsored by the Barbara Stone Foundation and limited to the first 50 families to register. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fr-amily-night-tickets-514888574587

As a multi-event series, Clarity, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate and Barbara Stone Foundation have partnered together to provide a unique opportunity for families of children with special health, mental health, and developmental needs to learn and grow with other families affected by similar challenges.
