Ashley grew up as a child with learning disabilities, which gave her the unique opportunity to know how struggling children learn. She graduated with a B.A. Elementary Education and a B.A. Early Childhood Education from Converse College.
Ashley has 20+ years of teaching experience, 15 of which were in the public school system, focusing on elementary education, and 5 were at Camperdown Academy, a school for language based disabilities. Trained in Orton-Gillingham methodologies and Lindamood Bell techniques, Ashley believes that not all children embrace the same learning disciplines. So she makes it her goal as a Learning Specialist is to allow all children the opportunity to learn using their own unique style, as to more positively impact their personal learning experiences and successes.
Ashley has two children (16 years old and 13 years old), along with two cats who are the bosses of the house. Being a parent of a child with learning disabilities has given her a greater appreciation of the multiple and compounding issues a challenged child faces on a daily basis. She enjoys spending time with kids, cooking, and working in her yard.
